Why me

I've led in business and in public life.

Leading a city council and building businesses taught me the same lesson: people achieve extraordinary things when they're aligned. I've made the case for my city in the most senior rooms in the country, and I've sat across the table from owners fighting for their business. Finding alignment and bringing people together is what I do naturally, whether it's a leadership team of ten or a global business.

In practice

Alongside my clients, at their table.

Since stepping away from politics in 2024, I've put the same leadership to work as an advisor: sitting down with owners and founders, listening first, and helping them align their people and their plan.

Alignment in action

Two businesses, one shared purpose.

In 2019 I brought together Charles Edwardson, business and property finance brokers, and Elephants Child, small business growth advisors. Elephants Child's clients needed finance to grow; Charles Edwardson could provide it.

Together we created a joint venture giving Elephants Child's clients a dedicated business finance brokering package. Five years on, we met at the Harbour Hotel to celebrate, and to work out how to work even closer together.

How an Engagement Works

01

Conversation

We meet, in person wherever possible, and I listen: what's working, what isn't, and where you want to get to. There are no fixed packages; everything starts with your needs.

02

Fit

We decide together whether I'm the right person. I only take on work where I believe in the mission, can add real value, and can see how to bring the people around the table into alignment.

03

Commitment

We shape the role around you, whether that's chair, non-executive director or advisor, and agree how we'll work. Then I'm all in: constant communication, honest challenge, and accountability for the results.
